- Do not forsake your friend or the friend of your parent;
do not go to the house of your kindred in the day of your calamity.
Better is a neighbor who is nearby
than kindred who are far away. - The clever see danger and hide;
but the simple go on, and suffer for it. - Iron sharpens iron,
and one person sharpens the wits of another. - Just as water reflects the face,
so one human heart reflects another. - When one will not listen to the law,
even one's prayers are an abomination. - No one who conceals transgressions will prosper,
but one who confesses and forsakes them will obtain mercy. - A fool gives full vent to anger,
but the wise quietly holds it back. - A person's pride will bring humiliation,
but one who is lowly in spirit will obtain honor. - The fear of others lays a snare,
but one who trusts in the Lord is secure. - Every word of God proves true;
he is a shield to those who take refuge in him. - Remove far from me falsehood and lying;
give me neither poverty nor riches;
feed me with the food that I need.
But if we hope for what we do not see, we wait for it with patience.
