The fear of the Lord implies hatred of evil; I hate pride and arrogance, evil ways and perverse speech. | The fear of the Lord is to hate evil: pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the froward mouth, do I hate. |
For whoever finds me finds life and receives favor from the Lord. | For whoso findeth me findeth life, and shall obtain favour of the Lord. |

Treasures obtained by wicked means profit nothing, but a righteous life brings delivery from death. | Treasures of wickedness profit nothing: but righteousness delivereth from death. |
Blessings are showered on the head of the righteous, but sorrow will cover the face of the wicked. | Blessings are upon the head of the just: but violence covereth the mouth of the wicked. |
The righteous is remembered with blessings, but the name of the wicked fades away. | The memory of the just is blessed: but the name of the wicked shall rot. |
A wise man will heed commandments, but a babbling fool will come to grief. | The wise in heart will receive commandments: but a prating fool shall fall. |
Anyone who leads an honorable life walks in safety, but whoever pursues wicked ways will be found out. | He that walketh uprightly walketh surely: but he that perverteth his ways shall be known. |

Where many words are spoken, sin is not absent, but whoever restrains his tongue is prudent. | In the multitude of words there wanteth not sin: but he that refraineth his lips is wise. |

The way of the Lord is a stronghold for the upright, but destruction for evildoers. | The way of the Lord is strength to the upright: but destruction shall be to the workers of iniquity. |
The lips of the righteous utter words of kindness, but the mouth of the wicked knows only how to pervert. | The lips of the righteous know what is acceptable: but the mouth of the wicked speaketh frowardness. |
When pride is nurtured, disgrace soon follows, but wisdom is the hallmark of the humble. | When pride cometh, then cometh shame: but with the lowly is wisdom. |
