- Many are the afflictions of the righteous,
but the Lord delivers him out of them all. - The Lord redeems the life of his servants;
none of those who take refuge in him will be condemned. - Trust in the Lord, and do good;
dwell in the land and befriend faithfulness. - Delight yourself in the Lord,
and he will give you the desires of your heart. - Commit your way to the Lord;
trust in him, and he will act.
He will bring forth your righteousness as the light,
and your justice as the noonday. - Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him;
fret not yourself over the one who prospers in his way,
over the man who carries out evil devices! - Better is the little that the righteous has
than the abundance of many wicked.
For the arms of the wicked shall be broken,
but the Lord upholds the righteous. - The wicked borrows but does not pay back,
but the righteous is generous and gives. - The steps of a man are established by the Lord,
when he delights in his way. - For the Lord loves justice;
he will not forsake his saints.
They are preserved forever,
but the children of the wicked shall be cut off. - O Lord, all my longing is before you;
my sighing is not hidden from you. - Hear my prayer, O Lord,
and give ear to my cry;
hold not your peace at my tears!
For I am a sojourner with you,
a guest, like all my fathers. - I delight to do your will, O my God;
your law is within my heart. - As for you, O Lord, you will not restrain your mercy from me;
your steadfast love and your faithfulness will ever preserve me! - As a deer pants for flowing streams,
so pants my soul for you, O God. - My soul thirsts for God,
for the living God.
When shall I come and appear before God? - Deep calls to deep
at the roar of your waterfalls;
all your breakers and your waves
have gone over me. - By day the Lord commands his steadfast love,
and at night his song is with me,
a prayer to the God of my life. - Why are you cast down, O my soul,
and why are you in turmoil within me?
Hope in God; for I shall again praise him,
my salvation and my God. - For not by their own sword did they win the land,
nor did their own arm save them,
but your right hand and your arm,
and the light of your face,
for you delighted in them. - God is our refuge and strength,
a very present help in trouble. - Be still, and know that I am God.
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth! - Have mercy on me, O God,
according to your steadfast love;
according to your abundant mercy
blot out my transgressions.
Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity,
and cleanse me from my sin! - Create in me a clean heart, O God,
and renew a right spirit within me. - The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit;
a broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise.
