If you keep my commandments, you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commandments and remain in his love. | If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love. |
Let what you heard from the beginning remain in you. If what you heard from the beginning remains in you, then you will remain in the Son and in the Father. | Let that therefore abide in you, which ye have heard from the beginning. If that which ye have heard from the beginning shall remain in you, ye also shall continue in the Son, and in the Father. |
|
If you abide in me and my words abide in you, you may ask for whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. | If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you. |
I am pulled in opposite directions. My desire is to depart and to be with Christ, for that is far better, but, it is a more urgent need for you that I remain in the body. | For I am in a strait betwixt two, having a desire to depart, and to be with Christ; which is far better: Nevertheless to abide in the flesh is more needful for you. |
You did not choose me. Rather, I chose you. And I appointed you to go out and bear fruit, fruit that will remain, so that the Father may give you whatever you ask him in my name. | Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you. |
But you, O Lord, reign forever; your throne endures from age to age. | Thou, O Lord, remainest for ever; thy throne from generation to generation. |
Then Jesus said to those Jews who did believe in him, “If you remain faithful to my word, you will truly be my disciples. You will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” | Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. |
I have told you these things so that my joy may be in you and your joy may be complete. | These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full. |
Jesus then said, “I will remain with you only for a short time longer, and then I shall return to him who sent me.” | Then said Jesus unto them, Yet a little while am I with you, and then I go unto him that sent me. |
Remain sober and alert, for your enemy the devil is on the prowl like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour. | Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour. |
Let us remain firm in the confession of our hope without wavering, for the one who made the promise is trustworthy. | Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;) |
Thus there are three things that endure: faith, hope, and love, and the greatest of these is love. | And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity. |
When riches increase, so do those who are eager to accumulate them, and those who have accumulated them must remain content simply to feast their eyes on them. | When goods increase, they are increased that eat them: and what good is there to the owners thereof, saving the beholding of them with their eyes? |
The Lord said to Moses, “Climb up to me on the mountain and remain there. I will give you stone tablets with the laws and commandments that I have written for their instruction.” | And the Lord said unto Moses, Come up to me into the mount, and be there: and I will give thee tables of stone, and a law, and commandments which I have written; that thou mayest teach them. |
I myself did not know him, but the one who sent me to baptize with water told me, ‘The one on whom you see the Spirit descend and rest is the one who is to baptize with the Holy Spirit.’ | And I knew him not: but he that sent me to baptize with water, the same said unto me, Upon whom thou shalt see the Spirit descending, and remaining on him, the same is he which baptizeth with the Holy Ghost. |
I am the vine, you are the branches. Whoever abides in me, and I in him, will bear much fruit. Apart from me you can do nothing. | I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing. |
And now, dear children, abide in him, so that when he appears we may have confidence and not be put to shame by him at his coming. | And now, little children, abide in him; that, when he shall appear, we may have confidence, and not be ashamed before him at his coming. |
But as for you, the anointing you received from him remains in you, and therefore you do not need anyone to teach you. This same anointing teaches you everything and is true and not false, so abide in him just as he taught you. | But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him. |
I am confident that I will behold the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. | I had fainted, unless I had believed to see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. |
This is how we can be certain that we abide in him and that he abides in us: he has given us a share in his Spirit. | Hereby know we that we dwell in him, and he in us, because he hath given us of his Spirit. |
Then Peter asked, “Ananias, why has Satan so gained control of your heart that you lied to the Holy Spirit and retained part of the sale price of the land? While it remained unsold, did it not belong to you? And after it was sold, were not the proceeds yours? What caused you to contrive this scheme? You have lied not to men but to God.” | But Peter said, Ananias, why hath Satan filled thine heart to lie to the Holy Ghost, and to keep back part of the price of the land? Whiles it remained, was it not thine own? and after it was sold, was it not in thine own power? why hast thou conceived this thing in thine heart? thou hast not lied unto men, but unto God. |
When the command is given, at the sound of the archangel’s voice and the call of God’s trumpet, the Lord himself will descend from heaven, and those who have died in Christ will be the first to rise. Then those of us who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them on clouds in the air to meet the Lord. And so, we will be with the Lord forever. | For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. |
Even if an army encamps against me, my heart will not succumb to fear; even if war breaks out against me, I will not have my trust shaken. | Though an host should encamp against me, my heart shall not fear: though war should rise against me, in this will I be confident. |
Owe nothing to anyone except the debt of love you owe one another. The one who loves others has fulfilled the Law. | Owe no man any thing, but to love one another: for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law. |
If anyone is rich in worldly possessions and sees a brother in need but refuses to open his heart, how can the love of God abide in him? | But whoso hath this world's good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him? |
