And a voice from heaven said, “This is my dearly loved Son, who brings me great joy.” | And behold, a voice from heaven said, “This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased.” |
Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they don’t know what they are doing.” And the soldiers gambled for his clothes by throwing dice. | And Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.” And they cast lots to divide his garments. |
Then he said, “Beware! Guard against every kind of greed. Life is not measured by how much you own.” | And he said to them, “Take care, and be on your guard against all covetousness, for one's life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions.” |
And Jesus said to him, “Go, for your faith has healed you.” Instantly the man could see, and he followed Jesus down the road. | And Jesus said to him, “Go your way; your faith has made you well.” And immediately he recovered his sight and followed him on the way. |
Then he said to the crowd, “If any of you wants to be my follower, you must give up your own way, take up your cross daily, and follow me.” | And he said to all, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me.” |
