Chinese (traditional)Bible Verses about 'Self control'
- For God didn’t give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control.
- But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faith, gentleness, and self-control. Against such things there is no law.
- Yes, and for this very cause adding on your part all diligence, in your faith supply moral excellence; and in moral excellence, knowledge; and in knowledge, self-control; and in self-control, perseverance; and in perseverance, godliness; and in godliness, brotherly affection; and in brotherly affection, love.
- Like a city that is broken down and without walls
is a man whose spirit is without restraint. - Every man who strives in the games exercises self-control in all things. Now they do it to receive a corruptible crown, but we an incorruptible.
- Don’t deprive one another, unless it is by consent for a season, that you may give yourselves to fasting and prayer, and may be together again, that Satan doesn’t tempt you because of your lack of self-control.
- One who is slow to anger is better than the mighty;
one who rules his spirit, than he who takes a city. - A fool vents all of his anger,
but a wise man brings himself under control. - For this is the will of God: your sanctification, that you abstain from sexual immorality, that each one of you know how to control his own body in sanctification and honor, not in the passion of lust, even as the Gentiles who don’t know God.
- But the end of all things is near. Therefore be of sound mind, self-controlled, and sober in prayer.
- Don’t lie to one another, seeing that you have put off the old man with his doings, and have put on the new man, who is being renewed in knowledge after the image of his Creator.
- For we all stumble in many things. Anyone who doesn’t stumble in word is a perfect person, able to bridle the whole body also.
- Therefore we don’t faint, but though our outward person is decaying, yet our inward person is renewed day by day.
- But I beat my body and bring it into submission, lest by any means, after I have preached to others, I myself should be disqualified.
- For the mind of the flesh is death, but the mind of the Spirit is life and peace.
- Be sober and self-controlled. Be watchful. Your adversary, the devil, walks around like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.
- Therefore prepare your minds for action. Be sober, and set your hope fully on the grace that will be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ.
- He who is slow to anger has great understanding,
but he who has a quick temper displays folly. - In the same way, that women also adorn themselves in decent clothing, with modesty and propriety, not with braided hair, gold, pearls, or expensive clothing, but with good works, which is appropriate for women professing godliness.
- Those who are in the flesh can’t please God.
- He who guards his mouth guards his soul.
One who opens wide his lips comes to ruin. - For if we have become united with him in the likeness of his death, we will also be part of his resurrection; knowing this, that our old man was crucified with him, that the body of sin might be done away with, so that we would no longer be in bondage to sin.
- For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation to all men, instructing us to the intent that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we would live soberly, righteously, and godly in this present age.
- If anyone among you thinks himself to be religious while he doesn’t bridle his tongue, but deceives his heart, this man’s religion is worthless.
- “Be angry, and don’t sin.” Don’t let the sun go down on your wrath, and don’t give place to the devil.
Let your beauty come not from the outward adorning of braiding your hair, and of wearing gold ornaments or of putting on fine clothing, but from the hidden person of the heart, in the incorruptible adornment of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is very precious in God’s sight.May the Lord make you to increase and abound in love toward one another and toward all men, even as we also do toward you.
