Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong. | Watch! Stand firm in the faith! Be courageous! Be strong! |
Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labor in vain. Unless the Lord watches over the city, the guards stand watch in vain. | Unless Yahweh builds the house, they who build it labor in vain. Unless Yahweh watches over the city, the watchman guards it in vain. |

Who are you to judge someone else’s servant? To their own master, servants stand or fall. And they will stand, for the Lord is able to make them stand. | Who are you who judge another’s servant? To his own lord he stands or falls. Yes, he will be made to stand, for God has power to make him stand. |
I know that my redeemer lives, and that in the end he will stand on the earth. | But as for me, I know that my Redeemer lives. In the end, he will stand upon the earth. |
Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come. | Watch therefore, for you don’t know in what hour your Lord comes. |
Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. | Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. |
A thousand years in your sight are like a day that has just gone by, or like a watch in the night. | For a thousand years in your sight are just like yesterday when it is past, like a watch in the night. |
Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. | Therefore put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. |
Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak. | Watch and pray, that you don’t enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak. |
It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery. | Stand firm therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and don’t be entangled again with a yoke of bondage. |
The Lord will keep you from all harm— he will watch over your life; the Lord will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore. | Yahweh will keep you from all evil. He will keep your soul. Yahweh will keep your going out and your coming in, from this time forward, and forever more. |
And when you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive them, so that your Father in heaven may forgive you your sins. | Whenever you stand praying, forgive, if you have anything against anyone; so that your Father, who is in heaven, may also forgive you your transgressions. |
Watch out that you do not lose what we have worked for, but that you may be rewarded fully. | Watch yourselves, that we don’t lose the things which we have accomplished, but that we receive a full reward. |
Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me. | Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, then I will come in to him and will dine with him, and he with me. |
Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers. | Blessed is the man who doesn’t walk in the counsel of the wicked, nor stand on the path of sinners, nor sit in the seat of scoffers. |
This is what the Lord says: “Stand at the crossroads and look; ask for the ancient paths, ask where the good way is, and walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls. But you said, ‘We will not walk in it.’” | Yahweh says, “Stand in the ways and see, and ask for the old paths, ‘Where is the good way?’ and walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls. But they said, ‘We will not walk in it.’” |
No one lights a lamp and hides it in a clay jar or puts it under a bed. Instead, they put it on a stand, so that those who come in can see the light. | No one, when he has lit a lamp, covers it with a container or puts it under a bed; but puts it on a stand, that those who enter in may see the light. |
Now, brothers and sisters, I want to remind you of the gospel I preached to you, which you received and on which you have taken your stand. By this gospel you are saved, if you hold firmly to the word I preached to you. Otherwise, you have believed in vain. | Now I declare to you, brothers, the Good News which I preached to you, which also you received, in which you also stand, by which also you are saved, if you hold firmly the word which I preached to you—unless you believed in vain. |
I urge you, brothers and sisters, to watch out for those who cause divisions and put obstacles in your way that are contrary to the teaching you have learned. Keep away from them. | Now I beg you, brothers, look out for those who are causing the divisions and occasions of stumbling, contrary to the doctrine which you learned, and turn away from them. |
But as for me, I watch in hope for the Lord, I wait for God my Savior; my God will hear me. | But as for me, I will look to Yahweh. I will wait for the God of my salvation. My God will hear me. |
So then, let us not be like others, who are asleep, but let us be awake and sober. | So then let’s not sleep, as the rest do, but let’s watch and be sober. |
The grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of our God endures forever. | The grass withers, the flower fades; but the word of our God stands forever. |
Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. | Stand therefore, having the utility belt of truth buckled around your waist, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having fitted your feet with the preparation of the Good News of peace, above all, taking up the shield of faith, with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the evil one. |
Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails. | There are many plans in a man’s heart, but Yahweh’s counsel will prevail. |
Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves. | Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly are ravening wolves. |
