Blessed are you when the people hate you, and when they exclude you, and insult you, and scorn your name as evil, on account of the Son of Man. | What blessings await you when people hate you and exclude you and mock you and curse you as evil because you follow the Son of Man. |
And as for you, the anointing which you received from Him remains in you, and you have no need for anyone to teach you; but as His anointing teaches you about all things, and is true and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you remain in Him. | But you have received the Holy Spirit, and he lives within you, so you don’t need anyone to teach you what is true. For the Spirit teaches you everything you need to know, and what he teaches is true—it is not a lie. So just as he has taught you, remain in fellowship with Christ. |

The Lord bless you, and keep you; The Lord cause His face to shine on you, And be gracious to you; The Lord lift up His face to you, And give you peace. | May the Lord bless you and protect you. May the Lord smile on you and be gracious to you. May the Lord show you his favor and give you his peace. |
You did not choose Me but I chose you, and appointed you that you would go and bear fruit, and that your fruit would remain, so that whatever you ask of the Father in My name He may give to you. | You didn’t choose me. I chose you. I appointed you to go and produce lasting fruit, so that the Father will give you whatever you ask for, using my name. |
Now I make known to you, brothers and sisters, the gospel which I preached to you, which you also received, in which you also stand, by which you also are saved, if you hold firmly to the word which I preached to you, unless you believed in vain. | Let me now remind you, dear brothers and sisters, of the Good News I preached to you before. You welcomed it then, and you still stand firm in it. It is this Good News that saves you if you continue to believe the message I told you—unless, of course, you believed something that was never true in the first place. |
The Lord will fight for you, while you keep silent. | The Lord himself will fight for you. Just stay calm. |
As for you, see that what you heard from the beginning remains in you. If what you heard from the beginning remains in you, you also will remain in the Son and in the Father. | So you must remain faithful to what you have been taught from the beginning. If you do, you will remain in fellowship with the Son and with the Father. |
God raised up His Servant for you first, and sent Him to bless you by turning every one of you from your wicked ways. | When God raised up his servant, Jesus, he sent him first to you people of Israel, to bless you by turning each of you back from your sinful ways. |
Turn to my rebuke, Behold, I will pour out my spirit on you; I will make my words known to you. | Come and listen to my counsel. I’ll share my heart with you and make you wise. |
Therefore, I say to you, all things for which you pray and ask, believe that you have received them, and they will be granted to you. | I tell you, you can pray for anything, and if you believe that you’ve received it, it will be yours. |
Do you not know that you are a temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you? | Don’t you realize that all of you together are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God lives in you? |
You are already clean because of the word which I have spoken to you. | You have already been pruned and purified by the message I have given you. |
And who is there to harm you if you prove zealous for what is good? | Now, who will want to harm you if you are eager to do good? |
If you love Me, you will keep My commandments. | If you love me, obey my commandments. |
When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; And through the rivers, they will not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be scorched, Nor will the flame burn you. | When you go through deep waters, I will be with you. When you go through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown. When you walk through the fire of oppression, you will not be burned up; the flames will not consume you. |
Jesus said to her, “Did I not say to you that if you believe, you will see the glory of God?” | Jesus responded, “Didn’t I tell you that you would see God’s glory if you believe?” |
So Jesus said to them again, “Peace be to you; just as the Father has sent Me, I also send you.” | Again he said, “Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, so I am sending you.” |
You shall walk entirely in the way which the Lord your God has commanded you, so that you may live and that it may be well for you, and that you may prolong your days in the land which you will possess. | Stay on the path that the Lord your God has commanded you to follow. Then you will live long and prosperous lives in the land you are about to enter and occupy. |
And whatever you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive it all. | You can pray for anything, and if you have faith, you will receive it. |
For I long to see you so that I may impart some spiritual gift to you, that you may be established; that is, that I may be encouraged together with you while among you, each of us by the other’s faith, both yours and mine. | For I long to visit you so I can bring you some spiritual gift that will help you grow strong in the Lord. When we get together, I want to encourage you in your faith, but I also want to be encouraged by yours. |
You have been severed from Christ, you who are seeking to be justified by the Law; you have fallen from grace. | For if you are trying to make yourselves right with God by keeping the law, you have been cut off from Christ! You have fallen away from God’s grace. |
I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper, so that He may be with you forever. | And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate, who will never leave you. |
If you had known Me, you would have known My Father also; from now on you know Him, and have seen Him. | If you had really known me, you would know who my Father is. From now on, you do know him and have seen him! |
Peace I leave you, My peace I give you; not as the world gives, do I give to you. Do not let your hearts be troubled, nor fearful. | I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid. |
Seek good and not evil, so that you may live; And so may the Lord God of armies be with you, Just as you have said! | Do what is good and run from evil so that you may live! Then the Lord God of Heaven’s Armies will be your helper, just as you have claimed. |
