| They exchanged the truth of God for a lie and offered worship and service to the creature rather than to the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen. That is why God abandoned them to their shameful passions. Their women exchanged natural intercourse for unnatural practices. Likewise, men gave up natural relations with women and were consumed with passion for one another. Men committed shameful acts with men and received in their own persons the fitting penalty for their perversion. Furthermore, since these people did not see fit to acknowledge God, he abandoned them to their depraved way of thinking and to all types of vile behavior. | Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen. For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet. And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient. |
| And where a single man can be overcome, two together will be able to resist. A cord with three strands is not easily broken. | And if one prevail against him, two shall withstand him; and a threefold cord is not quickly broken. |
| Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vanity, but humbly regard others as better than yourselves. | Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves. |
| The proud man’s heart is not upright, but the righteous man will live because of his faith. | Behold, his soul which is lifted up is not upright in him: but the just shall live by his faith. |

And when we eat and drink and find satisfaction in all our labors, this is a gift of God. | I know that there is no good in them, but for a man to rejoice, and to do good in his life. | I will make your descendants as numerous as the stars of the heavens and I will give them all these lands. All the nations on the earth will be blessed through your descendants, for Abraham listened to my voice and observed that which I ordered: my commandments, my ordinances and my laws. | And I will make thy seed to multiply as the stars of heaven, and will give unto thy seed all these countries; and in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; Because that Abraham obeyed my voice, and kept my charge, my commandments, my statutes, and my laws. |
