Pay your taxes, too, for these same reasons. For government workers need to be paid. They are serving God in what they do. | That is why you also pay taxes, for the authorities are God’s servants, and they devote themselves to this service. |
And this is the way to have eternal life—to know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, the one you sent to earth. | And eternal life is this: to know you, the only true God, and the one you have sent, Jesus Christ. |
As they were eating, Jesus took some bread and blessed it. For God wanted them to know that the riches and glory of Christ are for you Gentiles, too. And this is the secret: Christ lives in you. That’s the whole story. Here now is my final conclusion: Fear God and obey his commands, for this is everyone’s duty. | This is the end of my teaching. All has been heard. Fear God and keep his commandments, for that is the responsibility of everyone. |
Your love for one another will prove to the world that you are my disciples. | This is how everyone will know that you are my disciples: if you love one another. |
