Afterward, when they were completed, he was hungry. | And Jesus being full of the Holy Ghost returned from Jordan, and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness, Being forty days tempted of the devil. Therefore God also highly exalted him, and gave to him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, those on earth, and those under the earth. | Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth. |
Therefore he is also able to save to the uttermost those who draw near to God through him, seeing that he lives forever to make intercession for them. | Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them. |
Don’t be afraid of those who kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul. Rather, fear him who is able to destroy both soul and body in Gehenna. | And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell. |
Blessed is a person who endures temptation, for when he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord promised to those who love him. | Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him. |
Do the things which you learned, received, heard, and saw in me, and the God of peace will be with you. | Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you. |
For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with him those who have fallen asleep in Jesus. | For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him. |
The righteous cry, and Yahweh hears, and delivers them out of all their troubles. Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit. | The righteous cry, and the Lord heareth, and delivereth them out of all their troubles. The Lord is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit. |
If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him? | If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him? |
But as it is written, “Things which an eye didn’t see, and an ear didn’t hear, which didn’t enter into the heart of man, these God has prepared for those who love him.” | But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. |
Without faith it is impossible to be well pleasing to him, for he who comes to God must believe that he exists, and that he is a rewarder of those who seek him. | But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. |
Pride only breeds quarrels, but wisdom is with people who take advice. | Only by pride cometh contention: but with the well advised is wisdom. |
But the Scripture imprisoned all things under sin, that the promise by faith in Jesus Christ might be given to those who believe. | But the scripture hath concluded all under sin, that the promise by faith of Jesus Christ might be given to them that believe. |
No one, when he has lit a lamp, covers it with a container or puts it under a bed; but puts it on a stand, that those who enter in may see the light. | No man, when he hath lighted a candle, covereth it with a vessel, or putteth it under a bed; but setteth it on a candlestick, that they which enter in may see the light. |
Glory to God in the highest, on earth peace, good will toward men. | Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men. |
All chastening seems for the present to be not joyous but grievous; yet afterward it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it. | Now no chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby. |
The fear of Yahweh is the beginning of wisdom. All those who do his work have a good understanding. His praise endures forever! | The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom: a good understanding have all they that do his commandments: his praise endureth for ever. |
But as many as received him, to them he gave the right to become God’s children, to those who believe in his name. | But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name. |
Happy is the man who finds wisdom, the man who gets understanding. | Happy is the man that findeth wisdom, and the man that getteth understanding. |
But those who are determined to be rich fall into a temptation, a snare, and many foolish and harmful lusts, such as drown men in ruin and destruction. | But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition. |
Also, do not present your members to sin as instruments of unrighteousness, but present yourselves to God as alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness to God. | Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God. |
Open your mouth for the mute, in the cause of all who are left desolate. | Open thy mouth for the dumb in the cause of all such as are appointed to destruction. |
Now I beg you, brothers, look out for those who are causing the divisions and occasions of stumbling, contrary to the doctrine which you learned, and turn away from them. | Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them. |
Don’t let him who eats despise him who doesn’t eat. Don’t let him who doesn’t eat judge him who eats, for God has accepted him. | Let not him that eateth despise him that eateth not; and let not him which eateth not judge him that eateth: for God hath received him. |
