- Then there appeared to them tongues as of fire, which separated and came to rest on each one of them. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in different languages, as the Spirit enabled them to do so.
- Deliver me, O Lord, from lying lips
and from deceitful tongues. - If in speaking I use human tongues
and angelic as well,
but do not have love,
I am nothing more than a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. - On hearing this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. When Paul had laid his hands on them, the Holy Spirit came upon them, and they spoke in tongues and prophesied.
- If anyone thinks that he is religious but does not restrain his tongue, he is deceiving himself, and his religion is worthless.
- Where many words are spoken, sin is not absent,
but whoever restrains his tongue is prudent. - Even a fool who keeps silent is considered wise;
if he closes his lips, he is regarded as intelligent. - For all of us fall short in many ways. Anyone who never makes a mistake in speech has reached perfection and is able to control every part of his body.

“If anyone wishes to love life
and to experience good days,
he must restrain his tongue from evil
and his lips from deceitful speech.
He must turn away from evil and do good,
seek peace and pursue it.”
Who is this King of glory?
The Lord of hosts:
