Jesus answered and said to him, “If anyone loves Me, he will follow My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our dwelling with him.” | Jesus replied, “All who love me will do what I say. My Father will love them, and we will come and make our home with each of them.” |
And if he refuses to listen to them, tell it to the church; and if he refuses to listen even to the church, he is to be to you as a Gentile and a tax collector. | If the person still refuses to listen, take your case to the church. Then if he or she won’t accept the church’s decision, treat that person as a pagan or a corrupt tax collector. |
Now I make known to you, brothers and sisters, the gospel which I preached to you, which you also received, in which you also stand, by which you also are saved, if you hold firmly to the word which I preached to you, unless you believed in vain. | Let me now remind you, dear brothers and sisters, of the Good News I preached to you before. You welcomed it then, and you still stand firm in it. It is this Good News that saves you if you continue to believe the message I told you—unless, of course, you believed something that was never true in the first place. |
So teach us to number our days, That we may present to You a heart of wisdom. | Teach us to realize the brevity of life, so that we may grow in wisdom. |
Truly, truly I say to you, the one who believes in Me, the works that I do, he will do also; and greater works than these he will do; because I am going to the Father. | I tell you the truth, anyone who believes in me will do the same works I have done, and even greater works, because I am going to be with the Father. |
The second is like it, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ | A second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ |
For this is what the Lord says to the house of Israel: “Seek Me so that you may live.” | Now this is what the Lord says to the family of Israel: “Come back to me and live!” |
And Jesus answered and said to them, “Truly I say to you, if you have faith and do not doubt, you will not only do what was done to the fig tree, but even if you say to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and cast into the sea,’ it will happen.” | Then Jesus told them, “I tell you the truth, if you have faith and don’t doubt, you can do things like this and much more. You can even say to this mountain, ‘May you be lifted up and thrown into the sea,’ and it will happen.” |
I acknowledged my sin to You, And I did not hide my guilt; I said, “I will confess my wrongdoings to the Lord”; And You forgave the guilt of my sin. Selah | Finally, I confessed all my sins to you and stopped trying to hide my guilt. I said to myself, “I will confess my rebellion to the Lord.” And you forgave me! All my guilt is gone. |
For His divine power has granted to us everything pertaining to life and godliness, through the true knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and excellence. | By his divine power, God has given us everything we need for living a godly life. We have received all of this by coming to know him, the one who called us to himself by means of his marvelous glory and excellence. |
Come to Me, all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. | Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.” |
Do not work for the food that perishes, but for the food that lasts for eternal life, which the Son of Man will give you, for on Him the Father, God, has set His seal. | But don’t be so concerned about perishable things like food. Spend your energy seeking the eternal life that the Son of Man can give you. For God the Father has given me the seal of his approval. |
And He summoned the crowd together with His disciples, and said to them, “If anyone wants to come after Me, he must deny himself, take up his cross, and follow Me.” | Then, calling the crowd to join his disciples, he said, “If any of you wants to be my follower, you must give up your own way, take up your cross, and follow me.” |
But I tell you the truth: it is to your advantage that I am leaving; for if I do not leave, the Helper will not come to you; but if I go, I will send Him to you. | But in fact, it is best for you that I go away, because if I don’t, the Advocate won’t come. If I do go away, then I will send him to you. |
The eyes of the Lord are toward the righteous, And His ears are toward their cry for help. | The eyes of the Lord watch over those who do right; his ears are open to their cries for help. |
The end of all things is near; therefore, be of sound judgment and sober spirit for the purpose of prayer. | The end of the world is coming soon. Therefore, be earnest and disciplined in your prayers. |
The unfolding of Your words gives light; It gives understanding to the simple. | The teaching of your word gives light, so even the simple can understand. |
Every word of God is pure; He is a shield to those who take refuge in Him. | Every word of God proves true. He is a shield to all who come to him for protection. |
Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; For His faithfulness is everlasting. | Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good! His faithful love endures forever. |
So that I may come to you in joy by the will of God and relax in your company. | Then, by the will of God, I will be able to come to you with a joyful heart, and we will be an encouragement to each other. |
Praise the Lord in song, for He has done glorious things; Let this be known throughout the earth. | Sing to the Lord, for he has done wonderful things. Make known his praise around the world. |
Give thanks to the Lord, call upon His name; Make His deeds known among the peoples. | Give thanks to the Lord and proclaim his greatness. Let the whole world know what he has done. |
The Lord is near to all who call on Him, To all who call on Him in truth. | The Lord is close to all who call on him, yes, to all who call on him in truth. |
And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.” | And then he told them, “Go into all the world and preach the Good News to everyone.” |
But Jesus said to him, “ ‘If You can’? All things are possible for the one who believes.” | “What do you mean, ‘If I can’?” Jesus asked. “Anything is possible if a person believes.” |
