Watch therefore, for you don’t know in what hour your Lord comes. | Therefore, keep watch, for you do not know the day when your Lord is coming. |

Continue steadfastly in prayer, watching in it with thanksgiving. | Persevere in prayer, with alert minds and thankful hearts. |
Brothers, even if a man is caught in some fault, you who are spiritual must restore such a one in a spirit of gentleness, looking to yourself so that you also aren’t tempted. | Brethren, if anyone is detected committing a transgression, you who are spiritual must set him right in a spirit of gentleness. Yahweh’s eyes are toward the righteous. His ears listen to their cry. | The eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and his ears are open to their cry. |
I will instruct you and teach you in the way which you shall go. I will counsel you with my eye on you. | I will instruct you and guide you in the way you should go; I will counsel you and keep my eyes upon you. |
Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly are ravening wolves. | Be on guard against false prophets who come to you disguised in sheep’s clothing, but who inwardly are ravenous wolves. |
Be sober and self-controlled. Be watchful. Your adversary, the devil, walks around like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. | Remain sober and alert, for your enemy the devil is on the prowl like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour. |
He said to them, “Beware! Keep yourselves from covetousness, for a man’s life doesn’t consist of the abundance of the things which he possesses.” | After this, he said to the crowd, “Take care to be on your guard against all kinds of greed. Life does not depend upon an abundance of one’s possessions.” |
When goods increase, those who eat them are increased; and what advantage is there to its owner, except to feast on them with his eyes? | When riches increase, so do those who are eager to accumulate them, and those who have accumulated them must remain content simply to feast their eyes on them. |
For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and his ears open to their prayer; but the face of the Lord is against those who do evil. | For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous and his ears are attentive to their prayer. However, the face of the Lord is set against those who do evil. |
