Exhort slaves to be submissive to their masters and to give them satisfaction in every respect. They are not to talk back to them, nor are they to steal from them. They devoted themselves to the teaching of the apostles and to the communal fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayers. | And they continued stedfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers. |
I know how to live with little, and I know how to live with plenty. In any and all circumstances, I have learned the secret of being well fed and of going hungry, of having plenty and of being in need. | I know both how to be abased, and I know how to abound: every where and in all things I am instructed both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need. |

Do not wear yourself out in the pursuit of wealth, and cease even to think about it. | Labour not to be rich: cease from thine own wisdom. |
Return to me, says the Lord of hosts, and I will return to you, says the Lord of hosts. | Turn ye unto me, saith the Lord of hosts, and I will turn unto you, saith the Lord of hosts. |
So Christ, having been offered once to take away the sins of many, will appear a second time, not to deal with sin but to bring salvation to those who are eagerly waiting for him. | So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation. |
For it has been granted you not only to believe in Christ but also to suffer for him. | For unto you it is given in the behalf of Christ, not only to believe on him, but also to suffer for his sake. |
For from him and through him and for him are all things. To him be glory forever. Amen. | For of him, and through him, and to him, are all things: to whom be glory for ever. Amen. |
Which one of you, intending to build a tower, would not first sit down and estimate the cost, to see whether he has sufficient funds for its completion? | For which of you, intending to build a tower, sitteth not down first, and counteth the cost, whether he have sufficient to finish it? |
Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you waverers. | Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded. |
Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace to all those on whom his favor rests. | Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men. |
Make every effort to present yourself before God as one who is worthy of his approval, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, but who imparts the word of truth without any alteration. | Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. |
In everything, deal with others as you would like them to deal with you. This is the Law and the Prophets. | Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets. |
Your word is a lamp for my feet and a light to my path. | Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path. |
I will make haste and not delay to observe your precepts. | I made haste, and delayed not to keep thy commandments. |
Therefore, the Lord knows how to rescue the godly from their trials and to hold the wicked for punishment until the Day of Judgment. | The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished. |
For I am not ashamed of the gospel, since it is the power of God that offers salvation to everyone who has faith—to Jews first, and then to Gentiles as well. | For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. |
And so does kindness, O Lord. You reward each person in accordance with his deeds. | Also unto thee, O Lord, belongeth mercy: for thou renderest to every man according to his work. |
I did not hesitate to tell you what was for your benefit as I proclaimed the word to you and taught you publicly as well as from house to house. | And how I kept back nothing that was profitable unto you, but have shewed you, and have taught you publicly, and from house to house. |
And so now, O Israel, what does the Lord, your God, require of you but to fear the Lord, your God, to walk in all of his ways, to love him, to serve the Lord, your God, with all your heart and all your soul, and to observe the commandments and the statutes that I am giving you today for your own good. | And now, Israel, what doth the Lord thy God require of thee, but to fear the Lord thy God, to walk in all his ways, and to love him, and to serve the Lord thy God with all thy heart and with all thy soul, To keep the commandments of the Lord, and his statutes, which I command thee this day for thy good? |
What right do you have to pass judgment on someone else’s servant? The master will determine whether that servant will stand or fall. But the servant will be upheld, for the Lord has the power to enable him to stand. | Who art thou that judgest another man's servant? to his own master he standeth or falleth. Yea, he shall be holden up: for God is able to make him stand. |
There is a way that seems right to a man, but the end of it leads to death. | There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death. |
