If anyone has material possessions and sees a brother or sister in need but has no pity on them, how can the love of God be in that person? | But whoever has this world’s goods, and sees his brother in need, and shuts up his heart from him, how does the love of God abide in him? |

Like a city whose walls are broken through is a person who lacks self-control. | Whoever has no rule over his own spirit Is like a city broken down, without walls. |
Jesus replied, “Very truly I tell you, everyone who sins is a slave to sin.” | Jesus answered them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, whoever commits sin is a slave of sin.” |
The one who gets wisdom loves life; the one who cherishes understanding will soon prosper. | He who gets wisdom loves his own soul; He who keeps understanding will find good. |
