| Hear my prayer, O Lord, And give ear to my cry; Do not be silent at my tears; For I am a stranger with You, A sojourner, as all my fathers were. | Hear my prayer, Lord, listen to my cry for help; do not be deaf to my weeping. | When goods increase, They increase who eat them; So what profit have the owners Except to see them with their eyes? | As goods increase, so do those who consume them. And what benefit are they to the owners except to feast their eyes on them? |

| But whoever has this world’s goods, and sees his brother in need, and shuts up his heart from him, how does the love of God abide in him? | If anyone has material possessions and sees a brother or sister in need but has no pity on them, how can the love of God be in that person? |
| Or do you think that I cannot now pray to My Father, and He will provide Me with more than twelve legions of angels? | Do you think I cannot call on my Father, and he will at once put at my disposal more than twelve legions of angels? |
| Let each of us please his neighbor for his good, leading to edification. | Each of us should please our neighbors for their good, to build them up. |
