That I would see the goodness of the Lord
In the land of the living. - But you, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit, keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.
- He who is slow to anger is better than the mighty,
And he who rules his spirit than he who takes a city. - Thus says the Lord of hosts:
‘Execute true justice,
Show mercy and compassion
Everyone to his brother.
Do not oppress the widow or the fatherless,
The alien or the poor.
Let none of you plan evil in his heart
Against his brother.’ - My son, do not forget my law,
But let your heart keep my commands;
For length of days and long life
And peace they will add to you. - Be of good courage,
And He shall strengthen your heart,
All you who hope in the Lord. - And if you say in your heart, ‘How shall we know the word which the Lord has not spoken?’— when a prophet speaks in the name of the Lord, if the thing does not happen or come to pass, that is the thing which the Lord has not spoken; the prophet has spoken it presumptuously; you shall not be afraid of him.
- For if we have been united together in the likeness of His death, certainly we also shall be in the likeness of His resurrection, knowing this, that our old man was crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves of sin.
- Rejoicing in hope, patient in tribulation, continuing steadfastly in prayer.
- For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men, teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age.
- Do not let your adornment be merely outward—arranging the hair, wearing gold, or putting on fine apparel— rather let it be the hidden person of the heart, with the incorruptible beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is very precious in the sight of God.
- Do not overwork to be rich;
Because of your own understanding, cease! - Watch, stand fast in the faith, be brave, be strong.
- For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
- We who are Jews by nature, and not sinners of the Gentiles, knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law but by faith in Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Christ Jesus, that we might be justified by faith in Christ and not by the works of the law; for by the works of the law no flesh shall be justified.
- And whatever things you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive.
- My son, give attention to my words;
Incline your ear to my sayings.
Do not let them depart from your eyes;
Keep them in the midst of your heart. - Direct my steps by Your word,
And let no iniquity have dominion over me. - So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver.
- Remember now your Creator in the days of your youth,
Before the difficult days come,
And the years draw near when you say,
“I have no pleasure in them”
