Eternal life (2/4)

  • Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life.
  • For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.
  • Whoever finds their life will lose it, and whoever loses their life for my sake will find it.
  • For this reason Christ is the mediator of a new covenant, that those who are called may receive the promised eternal inheritance—now that he has died as a ransom to set them free from the sins committed under the first covenant.
  • For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me will save it.
  • For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me will find it.
  • All your words are true;
    all your righteous laws are eternal.
  • Therefore let us move beyond the elementary teachings about Christ and be taken forward to maturity, not laying again the foundation of repentance from acts that lead to death, and of faith in God, instruction about cleansing rites, the laying on of hands, the resurrection of the dead, and eternal judgment.
  • For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me and for the gospel will save it.
  • For those who find me find life
    and receive favor from the Lord.
  • Do not worry about your life, what you will eat; or about your body, what you will wear. For life is more than food, and the body more than clothes.
  • Therefore, my brothers and sisters, make every effort to confirm your calling and election. For if you do these things, you will never stumble, and you will receive a rich welcome into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
  • Humility is the fear of the Lord;
    its wages are riches and honor and life.
  • Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.
  • Listen, my son, accept what I say,
    and the years of your life will be many.
  • Whoever pursues righteousness and love
    finds life, prosperity and honor.
  • The soothing tongue is a tree of life,
    but a perverse tongue crushes the spirit.
  • Hope deferred makes the heart sick,
    but a longing fulfilled is a tree of life.
  • For physical training is of some value, but godliness has value for all things, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come.
  • A person’s riches may ransom their life,
    but the poor cannot respond to threatening rebukes.
  • Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes?
  • The tongue has the power of life and death,
    and those who love it will eat its fruit.
  • The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace.
  • Now may the God of peace, who through the blood of the eternal covenant brought back from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great Shepherd of the sheep, equip you with everything good for doing his will, and may he work in us what is pleasing to him, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.
  • I will never forget your precepts,
    for by them you have preserved my life.

Whoever heeds discipline shows the way to life,
but whoever ignores correction leads others astray.

Bible verse of the day

My son, pay attention to what I say;
turn your ear to my words.
Do not let them out of your sight,
keep them within your heart.
