| Let everyone submit himself to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which derives from God, and whatever authorities exist have been instituted by God. | Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God. |
| For we will become partners with Christ only if we maintain firmly until the end the confidence we originally had. | For we are made partakers of Christ, if we hold the beginning of our confidence stedfast unto the end. |

| The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me because the Lord has anointed me. He has sent me to announce good news to the oppressed, to strengthen the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom to those held in captivity and release to those who have been imprisoned. | The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me; because the Lord hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound. |

| Those who live according to the flesh fix their attention on the things of the flesh, while those who live according to the Spirit set their thoughts on spiritual things. | For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit. |

| The way of the Lord is a stronghold for the upright, but destruction for evildoers. | The way of the Lord is strength to the upright: but destruction shall be to the workers of iniquity. |

| No one can serve two masters. For you will either hate the one and love the other or be devoted to the one and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon. |
| Beloved, do not trust every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God. For many false prophets have gone out into the world. | Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world. |
| The heart is more deceitful than any other thing, and it is also perverse. Who can uncover its secrets? | In Christ and through his blood we have redemption and the forgiveness of our sins. In accord with the riches of his grace. | In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace. |

| The righteous call out, and the Lord hears them; he rescues them from all their troubles. The Lord remains close to the brokenhearted, and he saves those whose spirit is crushed. | The righteous cry, and the Lord heareth, and delivereth them out of all their troubles. The Lord is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit. |
| And you will say on that day: Give thanks to the Lord, invoke his name; make known his deeds among the nations; proclaim that his name is exalted. | And in that day shall ye say, Praise the Lord, call upon his name, declare his doings among the people, make mention that his name is exalted. |
