Chinese (traditional)Bible Verses about 'Grief'
- A wise son brings joy to his father,
but a foolish son brings grief to his mother. - For with much wisdom comes much sorrow;
the more knowledge, the more grief. - Godly sorrow brings repentance that leads to salvation and leaves no regret, but worldly sorrow brings death.
- He was despised and rejected by mankind,
a man of suffering, and familiar with pain.
Like one from whom people hide their faces
he was despised, and we held him in low esteem. - The wise in heart accept commands,
but a chattering fool comes to ruin. - So then, banish anxiety from your heart
and cast off the troubles of your body,
for youth and vigor are meaningless. - Surely he took up our pain
and bore our suffering,
yet we considered him punished by God,
stricken by him, and afflicted. - For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.
- Rend your heart
and not your garments.
Return to the Lord your God,
for he is gracious and compassionate,
slow to anger and abounding in love,
and he relents from sending calamity. - At this, Job got up and tore his robe and shaved his head. Then he fell to the ground in worship and said:
“Naked I came from my mother’s womb,
and naked I will depart.
The Lord gave and the Lord has taken away;
may the name of the Lord be praised.”
But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people.”
