Him (3/4)

  • That I may know him and the power of his resurrection, and may share his sufferings, becoming like him in his death.
  • The Lord is good,
    a stronghold in the day of trouble;
    he knows those who take refuge in him.
  • As a father shows compassion to his children,
    so the Lord shows compassion to those who fear him.
  • For in him the whole fullness of deity dwells bodily, and you have been filled in him, who is the head of all rule and authority.
  • If your brother sins, rebuke him, and if he repents, forgive him, and if he sins against you seven times in the day, and turns to you seven times, saying, ‘I repent,’ you must forgive him.
  • Woe to him who strives with him who formed him,
    a pot among earthen pots!
    Does the clay say to him who forms it, ‘What are you making?’
    or ‘Your work has no handles’?
  • Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth.
  • Philip said to him, “Lord, show us the Father, and it is enough for us.”
  • If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him.
  • No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.
  • Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer of faith will save the one who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven.
  • So Peter opened his mouth and said: “Truly I understand that God shows no partiality, but in every nation anyone who fears him and does what is right is acceptable to him.”
  • But when they saw him walking on the sea they thought it was a ghost, and cried out, for they all saw him and were terrified. But immediately he spoke to them and said, “Take heart; it is I. Do not be afraid.”
  • For if they fall, one will lift up his fellow. But woe to him who is alone when he falls and has not another to lift him up!
  • And while they were there, the time came for her to give birth. And she gave birth to her firstborn son and wrapped him in swaddling cloths and laid him in a manger, because there was no place for them in the inn.
  • And we are witnesses to these things, and so is the Holy Spirit, whom God has given to those who obey him.
  • And when he had said these things, as they were looking on, he was lifted up, and a cloud took him out of their sight.
  • For it has been granted to you that for the sake of Christ you should not only believe in him but also suffer for his sake.
  • For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.
  • And he answered them, “Whoever has two tunics is to share with him who has none, and whoever has food is to do likewise.”
  • I can do all things through him who strengthens me.
  • Whoever keeps his commandments abides in God, and God in him. And by this we know that he abides in us, by the Spirit whom he has given us.
  • This God—his way is perfect;
    the word of the Lord proves true;
    he is a shield for all those who take refuge in him.
  • For ‘In him we live and move and have our being’; as even some of your own poets have said, ‘For we are indeed his offspring.’
  • And over his head they put the charge against him, which read, “This is Jesus, the King of the Jews.”

This God—his way is perfect;
the word of the Lord proves true;
he is a shield for all those who take refuge in him.
