Let us examine our ways and test them, and let us return to the Lord. | Let us search and try our ways, and turn again to the Lord. |
In you, Lord, I have taken refuge; let me never be put to shame; deliver me in your righteousness. | In thee, O Lord, do I put my trust; let me never be ashamed: deliver me in thy righteousness. |

What you have said in the dark will be heard in the daylight, and what you have whispered in the ear in the inner rooms will be proclaimed from the roofs. | Therefore whatsoever ye have spoken in darkness shall be heard in the light; and that which ye have spoken in the ear in closets shall be proclaimed upon the housetops. |
“In your anger do not sin”: Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry, and do not give the devil a foothold. | Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath: Neither give place to the devil. |
Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. | And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful. |
Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as elaborate hairstyles and the wearing of gold jewelry or fine clothes. Rather, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight. | Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel; But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price. |
In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus. | Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus. |
My son, pay attention to what I say; turn your ear to my words. Do not let them out of your sight, keep them within your heart. | My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings. Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart. |
So then, let us not be like others, who are asleep, but let us be awake and sober. | Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober. |
Let everything that has breath praise the Lord. Praise the Lord. | Let every thing that hath breath praise the Lord. Praise ye the Lord. |
Let the wicked forsake their ways and the unrighteous their thoughts. Let them turn to the Lord, and he will have mercy on them, and to our God, for he will freely pardon. | Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the Lord, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon. |
Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good. | Let love be without dissimulation. Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good. |
But God has helped me to this very day; so I stand here and testify to small and great alike. I am saying nothing beyond what the prophets and Moses said would happen— that the Messiah would suffer and, as the first to rise from the dead, would bring the message of light to his own people and to the Gentiles. | Having therefore obtained help of God, I continue unto this day, witnessing both to small and great, saying none other things than those which the prophets and Moses did say should come: That Christ should suffer, and that he should be the first that should rise from the dead, and should shew light unto the people, and to the Gentiles. |
But let justice roll on like a river, righteousness like a never-failing stream! | But let judgment run down as waters, and righteousness as a mighty stream. |
The precepts of the Lord are right, giving joy to the heart. The commands of the Lord are radiant, giving light to the eyes. | The statutes of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes. |
Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen. | Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers. |
Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit. | If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. |
Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in you. Show me the way I should go, for to you I entrust my life. | Cause me to hear thy lovingkindness in the morning; for in thee do I trust: cause me to know the way wherein I should walk; for I lift up my soul unto thee. |
Let love and faithfulness never leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart. Then you will win favor and a good name in the sight of God and man. | Let not mercy and truth forsake thee: bind them about thy neck; write them upon the table of thine heart: So shalt thou find favour and good understanding in the sight of God and man. |
Sing to the Lord, for he has done glorious things; let this be known to all the world. | Sing unto the Lord; for he hath done excellent things: this is known in all the earth. |
Who is wise? Let them realize these things. Who is discerning? Let them understand. The ways of the Lord are right; the righteous walk in them, but the rebellious stumble in them. | Who is wise, and he shall understand these things? prudent, and he shall know them? for the ways of the Lord are right, and the just shall walk in them: but the transgressors shall fall therein. |
Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth. | My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth. |
Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.” | Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. |
Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity. | Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity. |
“Come now, let us settle the matter,” says the Lord. “Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red as crimson, they shall be like wool.” | Come now, and let us reason together, saith the Lord: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool. |
