| A second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ | And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. |
| But I say, love your enemies! Pray for those who persecute you! | But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you. |

| Those who love your instructions have great peace and do not stumble. | Great peace have they which love thy law: and nothing shall offend them. |

| But to you who are willing to listen, I say, love your enemies! Do good to those who hate you. Bless those who curse you. | A person without self-control is like a city with broken-down walls. | He that hath no rule over his own spirit is like a city that is broken down, and without walls. |
| But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things! | But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. |
| For husbands, this means love your wives, just as Christ loved the church. He gave up his life for her to make her holy and clean, washed by the cleansing of God’s word. | Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it; That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word. |
| You must not murder. You must not commit adultery. You must not steal. You must not testify falsely. Honor your father and mother. | So prepare your minds for action and exercise self-control. Put all your hope in the gracious salvation that will come to you when Jesus Christ is revealed to the world. | Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ. |
| Don’t lie to each other, for you have stripped off your old sinful nature and all its wicked deeds. Put on your new nature, and be renewed as you learn to know your Creator and become like him. | Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds; And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him. |
| But anyone who does not love does not know God, for God is love. | He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love. |
| That is why we never give up. Though our bodies are dying, our spirits are being renewed every day. | For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day. |
| Let your favor shine on your servant. In your unfailing love, rescue me. | Make thy face to shine upon thy servant: save me for thy mercies' sake. |
