Therefore let us not sleep, as others do, but let us watch and be sober. | So be on your guard, not asleep like the others. Stay alert and be clearheaded. |

The fear of man brings a snare, But whoever trusts in the Lord shall be safe. | Fearing people is a dangerous trap, but trusting the Lord means safety. |
For I have satiated the weary soul, and I have replenished every sorrowful soul. | For I have given rest to the weary and joy to the sorrowing. |
The name of the Lord is a strong tower; The righteous run to it and are safe. | The name of the Lord is a strong fortress; the godly run to him and are safe. |

The rich man’s wealth is his strong city, And like a high wall in his own esteem. | The rich think of their wealth as a strong defense; they imagine it to be a high wall of safety. |

As for God, His way is perfect; The word of the Lord is proven; He is a shield to all who trust in Him. | God’s way is perfect. All the Lord’s promises prove true. He is a shield for all who look to him for protection. |
The Lord also will be a refuge for the oppressed, A refuge in times of trouble. | The Lord is a shelter for the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble. |
Though an army may encamp against me, My heart shall not fear; Though war may rise against me, In this I will be confident. | Though a mighty army surrounds me, my heart will not be afraid. Even if I am attacked, I will remain confident. |
