Because they exchanged the truth about God for a lie and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever! Amen. For while bodily training is of some value, godliness is of value in every way, as it holds promise for the present life and also for the life to come.

While physical training has some value, the benefits of godliness are unlimited, since it holds out promise not only for this life but also for the life to come.
