| Without counsel purposes are disappointed: but in the multitude of counsellors they are established. | Without consultation, plans are frustrated, But with many counselors they succeed. |
| Grant thee according to thine own heart, and fulfil all thy counsel. | May He grant you your heart’s desire And fulfill your whole plan! |
| He layeth up sound wisdom for the righteous: he is a buckler to them that walk uprightly. | He stores up sound wisdom for the upright; He is a shield to those who walk in integrity. |
| Again, I considered all travail, and every right work, that for this a man is envied of his neighbour. This is also vanity and vexation of spirit. | I have seen that every labor and every skill which is done is the result of rivalry between a person and his neighbor. This too is futility and striving after wind. |
| And let the beauty of the Lord our God be upon us: and establish thou the work of our hands upon us; yea, the work of our hands establish thou it. | May the kindness of the Lord our God be upon us; And confirm for us the work of our hands; Yes, confirm the work of our hands. |
| Let not mercy and truth forsake thee: bind them about thy neck; write them upon the table of thine heart: So shalt thou find favour and good understanding in the sight of God and man. | Do not let kindness and truth leave you; Bind them around your neck, Write them on the tablet of your heart. So you will find favor and a good reputation In the sight of God and man. |
| Commit thy works unto the Lord, and thy thoughts shall be established. | Commit your works to the Lord, And your plans will be established. |
| Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass. | Rest in the Lord and wait patiently for Him; Do not get upset because of one who is successful in his way, Because of the person who carries out wicked schemes. |
| And keep the charge of the Lord thy God, to walk in his ways, to keep his statutes, and his commandments, and his judgments, and his testimonies, as it is written in the law of Moses, that thou mayest prosper in all that thou doest, and whithersoever thou turnest thyself. | Do your duty to the Lord your God, to walk in His ways, to keep His statutes, His commandments, His ordinances, and His testimonies, according to what is written in the Law of Moses, so that you may succeed in all that you do and wherever you turn. |
