Bible Verses about Speaking

Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.Death and life are in the power of the tongue, And those who love it will eat its fruit.
A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh. The good person out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth what is good; and the evil person out of the evil treasure brings forth what is evil; for his mouth speaks from that which fills his heart.
Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.Let no unwholesome word come out of your mouth, but if there is any good word for edification according to the need of the moment, say that, so that it will give grace to those who hear.
He that keepeth his mouth keepeth his life: but he that openeth wide his lips shall have destruction. One who guards his mouth protects his life; One who opens wide his lips comes to ruin.
Not rendering evil for evil, or railing for railing: but contrariwise blessing; knowing that ye are thereunto called, that ye should inherit a blessing. Not returning evil for evil or insult for insult, but giving a blessing instead; for you were called for the very purpose that you would inherit a blessing.
A wholesome tongue is a tree of life: but perverseness therein is a breach in the spirit.A soothing tongue is a tree of life, But perversion in it crushes the spirit.
But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment. But I tell you that for every careless word that people speak, they will give an account of it on the day of judgment.
Even a fool, when he holdeth his peace, is counted wise: and he that shutteth his lips is esteemed a man of understanding.Even a fool, when he keeps silent, is considered wise; When he closes his lips, he is considered prudent.
In the multitude of words there wanteth not sin: but he that refraineth his lips is wise. When there are many words, wrongdoing is unavoidable, But one who restrains his lips is wise.
Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath. You know this, my beloved brothers and sisters. Now everyone must be quick to hear, slow to speak, and slow to anger.
Open thy mouth for the dumb in the cause of all such as are appointed to destruction.Open your mouth for the people who cannot speak, For the rights of all the unfortunate.
A man hath joy by the answer of his mouth: and a word spoken in due season, how good is it!A person has joy in an apt answer, And how delightful is a timely word!
A soft answer turneth away wrath: but grievous words stir up anger.A gentle answer turns away wrath, But a harsh word stirs up anger.
My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth.Little children, let’s not love with word or with tongue, but in deed and truth.
For in many things we offend all. If any man offend not in word, the same is a perfect man, and able also to bridle the whole body. For we all stumble in many ways. If anyone does not stumble in what he says, he is a perfect man, able to rein in the whole body as well.
The words of a wise man's mouth are gracious; but the lips of a fool will swallow up himself.Words from the mouth of a wise person are gracious, while the lips of a fool consume him.
A talebearer revealeth secrets: but he that is of a faithful spirit concealeth the matter. One who goes about as a slanderer reveals secrets, But one who is trustworthy conceals a matter.
Out of the same mouth proceedeth blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not so to be.From the same mouth come both blessing and cursing. My brothers and sisters, these things should not be this way.
Let my mouth be filled with thy praise and with thy honour all the day.My mouth is filled with Your praise And with Your glory all day long.
Moreover if thy brother shall trespass against thee, go and tell him his fault between thee and him alone: if he shall hear thee, thou hast gained thy brother. Now if your brother sins, go and show him his fault in private; if he listens to you, you have gained your brother.
Therefore whatsoever ye have spoken in darkness shall be heard in the light; and that which ye have spoken in the ear in closets shall be proclaimed upon the housetops.Accordingly, whatever you have said in the dark will be heard in the light, and what you have whispered in the inner rooms will be proclaimed on the housetops.
Walk in wisdom toward them that are without, redeeming the time. Let your speech be always with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man.Conduct yourselves with wisdom toward outsiders, making the most of the opportunity. Your speech must always be with grace, as though seasoned with salt, so that you will know how you should respond to each person.
That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. That if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.
Without counsel purposes are disappointed: but in the multitude of counsellors they are established.Without consultation, plans are frustrated, But with many counselors they succeed.
Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. Now in the same way the Spirit also helps our weakness; for we do not know what to pray for as we should, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words.

But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking. And when you are praying, do not use thoughtless repetition as the Gentiles do, for they think that they will be heard because of their many words.
