“For the mountains shall depart And the hills be removed, But My kindness shall not depart from you, Nor shall My covenant of peace be removed,” Says the Lord, who has mercy on you. | Although the mountains may be shaken and the hills may totter, my steadfast love will not depart from you, and my covenant of peace will never be shaken, says the Lord who has compassion on you. |
And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love. | Thus there are three things that endure: faith, hope, and love, and the greatest of these is love. |
|
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me All the days of my life; And I will dwell in the house of the Lord Forever. | Only goodness and kindness will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever and ever. |
Because Your lovingkindness is better than life, My lips shall praise You. Thus I will bless You while I live; I will lift up my hands in Your name. | Your kindness is a greater joy than life itself; thus my lips will speak your praise. I will bless you all my life; with uplifted hands I will call on your name. |
Remember, O Lord, Your tender mercies and Your lovingkindnesses, For they are from of old. Do not remember the sins of my youth, nor my transgressions; According to Your mercy remember me, For Your goodness’ sake, O Lord. | Be mindful, O Lord, that mercy and kindness have been yours from of old. Remember not the sins of my youth or my many transgressions, but remember me in your kindness, for the sake of your goodness, O Lord. |
Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. | Beloved, let us love one another, because love is from God. Everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. |
No one has seen God at any time. If we love one another, God abides in us, and His love has been perfected in us. | No one has ever seen God, but if we love one another, God abides in us, and his love is made complete in us. |
A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. | I give you a new commandment: love one another. Just as I have loved you, so you should also love one another. |
If someone says, “I love God,” and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen, how can he love God whom he has not seen? | If someone says, “I love God,” but at the same time hates his brother, he is a liar. For whoever does not love the brother whom he has seen cannot love God whom he has not seen. |
Let all that you do be done with love. | Everything that you do should be done in love. |
Therefore know that the Lord your God, He is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and mercy for a thousand generations with those who love Him and keep His commandments. | Keep in mind, therefore, that the Lord, your God, is God. He is a faithful God who keeps his covenant of mercy to the thousandth generation toward those who love him and observe his commandments. |
And above all things have fervent love for one another, for “love will cover a multitude of sins.” | Above all, maintain the fervor of your love for one another, because love covers a multitude of sins. |
If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love, just as I have kept My Father’s commandments and abide in His love. | If you keep my commandments, you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commandments and remain in his love. |
Hatred stirs up strife, But love covers all sins. | Hatred stirs up strife, but love overlooks all offenses. |
But I will sing of Your power; Yes, I will sing aloud of Your mercy in the morning; For You have been my defense And refuge in the day of my trouble. | But I will sing of your strength; when morning dawns, I will proclaim your kindness. For you have been my fortress, my refuge in times of trouble. |
The Lord is good, A stronghold in the day of trouble; And He knows those who trust in Him. | The Lord is good, an unfailing refuge in a time of distress. He takes care of those who place their trust in him. |
Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. | Beloved, since God loved us so much, we should love one another. |
And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth. | And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us. And we saw his glory, the glory as of the Father’s only Son, full of grace and truth. |
This is My commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. | This is my commandment: love one another as I have loved you. |
And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ | The second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ |
Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil. | Love is patient; love is charitable. Love is not envious; it does not have an inflated opinion of itself; it is not filled with its own importance. Love is never rude; it does not seek its own advantage. It is not prone to anger; neither does it brood over setbacks. |
Let love be without hypocrisy. Abhor what is evil. Cling to what is good. | Let your love be sincere. Loathe what is evil and hold fast to what is good. |
And this commandment we have from Him: that he who loves God must love his brother also. | This is the commandment we have received from him: whoever loves God must also love his brother. |
So rend your heart, and not your garments; Return to the Lord your God, For He is gracious and merciful, Slow to anger, and of great kindness; And He relents from doing harm. | Rend your hearts and not your garments, and turn back to the Lord, your God. For he is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, rich in kindness, and always prepared to relent from punishing. |
Great peace have those who love Your law, And nothing causes them to stumble. | Those who love your law have great peace; they encounter no stumbling blocks. |
