| Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him, and he in God. | God abides in anyone who acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God, and that person abides in God. |
| Thou therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. | As for you, my child, take strength from the grace that is in Christ Jesus. |

| Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee. | O Lord, you grant peace to those who are steadfast because of their trust in you. |
| Let that therefore abide in you, which ye have heard from the beginning. If that which ye have heard from the beginning shall remain in you, ye also shall continue in the Son, and in the Father. | Let what you heard from the beginning remain in you. | The Lord is good, a strong hold in the day of trouble; and he knoweth them that trust in him. | The Lord is good, an unfailing refuge in a time of distress. He takes care of those who place their trust in him. |
| And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. | Whatever you ask in my name I will do, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. |
| Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ's sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong. | For this reason, I rejoice when I endure weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and distress for the sake of Christ. For it is when I am weak that I am strong. |
| In God I will praise his word, in God I have put my trust; I will not fear what flesh can do unto me. | In God, whose word I praise, in God I place my trust and know no fear; what can people do to me? |
| If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you. | If you abide in me and my words abide in you, you may ask for whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. |
| Continue in prayer, and watch in the same with thanksgiving. | Persevere in prayer, with alert minds and thankful hearts. |
| For a day in thy courts is better than a thousand. I had rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God, than to dwell in the tents of wickedness. | It is better to spend one day in your courts than a thousand elsewhere. I would rather be a doorkeeper in God’s house than dwell inside the tents of the wicked. |
| God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. | God is Spirit, and those who worship him must worship in Spirit and truth. |
| Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. | Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked, nor stand in the way of sinners, nor sit in the company of scoffers. |
| In thee, O Lord, do I put my trust; let me never be ashamed: deliver me in thy righteousness. | In you, O Lord, I have taken refuge; let me never be put to shame; in your righteousness deliver me. |
| And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom. | So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. | God created mankind in his image, in the image of God he created them, male and female he created them. |
| No man hath seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us. | No one has ever seen God, but if we love one another, God abides in us, and his love is made complete in us. |
| A fool hath no delight in understanding, but that his heart may discover itself. | A fool takes no pleasure in understanding but only delights in expressing his own opinions. |
