Sin (3/5)

Come back to your senses as you ought, and stop sinning; for there are some who are ignorant of God—I say this to your shame.Wake up from your drunken stupor, as is right, and do not go on sinning. For some have no knowledge of God. I say this to your shame.
The one who does what is sinful is of the devil, because the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the devil’s work.Whoever makes a practice of sinning is of the devil, for the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the works of the devil.
For where you have envy and selfish ambition, there you find disorder and every evil practice. For where jealousy and selfish ambition exist, there will be disorder and every vile practice.
But Scripture has locked up everything under the control of sin, so that what was promised, being given through faith in Jesus Christ, might be given to those who believe. But the Scripture imprisoned everything under sin, so that the promise by faith in Jesus Christ might be given to those who believe.
Sin is not ended by multiplying words, but the prudent hold their tongues. When words are many, transgression is not lacking, but whoever restrains his lips is prudent.
God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.
But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed. But he was pierced for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities; upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with his wounds we are healed.
I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.I have stored up your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you.
Whoever keeps commandments keeps their life, but whoever shows contempt for their ways will die.Whoever keeps the commandment keeps his life; he who despises his ways will die.
Everyone who sins breaks the law; in fact, sin is lawlessness.Everyone who makes a practice of sinning also practices lawlessness; sin is lawlessness.
For I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more. For I will be merciful toward their iniquities, and I will remember their sins no more.
Do not offer any part of yourself to sin as an instrument of wickedness, but rather offer yourselves to God as those who have been brought from death to life; and offer every part of yourself to him as an instrument of righteousness.Do not present your members to sin as instruments for unrighteousness, but present yourselves to God as those who have been brought from death to life, and your members to God as instruments for righteousness.
But if a wicked person turns away from all the sins they have committed and keeps all my decrees and does what is just and right, that person will surely live; they will not die.But if a wicked person turns away from all his sins that he has committed and keeps all my statutes and does what is just and right, he shall surely live; he shall not die.
That God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting people’s sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation. That is, in Christ God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting to us the message of reconciliation.
You desire but do not have, so you kill. You covet but you cannot get what you want, so you quarrel and fight. You do not have because you do not ask God.You desire and do not have, so you murder. You covet and cannot obtain, so you fight and quarrel. You do not have, because you do not ask.
The way of the Lord is a refuge for the blameless, but it is the ruin of those who do evil. The way of the Lord is a stronghold to the blameless, but destruction to evildoers.
Therefore, since Christ suffered in his body, arm yourselves also with the same attitude, because whoever suffers in the body is done with sin.Since therefore Christ suffered in the flesh, arm yourselves with the same way of thinking, for whoever has suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin.
I have swept away your offenses like a cloud, your sins like the morning mist. Return to me, for I have redeemed you.I have blotted out your transgressions like a cloud and your sins like mist; return to me, for I have redeemed you.
This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.In this is love, not that we have loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.
This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light; in him there is no darkness at all. This is the message we have heard from him and proclaim to you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.
Who is a God like you, who pardons sin and forgives the transgression of the remnant of his inheritance? You do not stay angry forever but delight to show mercy.Who is a God like you, pardoning iniquity and passing over transgression for the remnant of his inheritance? He does not retain his anger forever, because he delights in steadfast love.
I tell you that in the same way there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent.Just so, I tell you, there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who need no repentance.
In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace. In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace.
What you have said in the dark will be heard in the daylight, and what you have whispered in the ear in the inner rooms will be proclaimed from the roofs. Therefore whatever you have said in the dark shall be heard in the light, and what you have whispered in private rooms shall be proclaimed on the housetops.
Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us.Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us.
