- And now, Israel, what does the Lord your God require of you? He requires only that you fear the Lord your God, and live in a way that pleases him, and love him and serve him with all your heart and soul. And you must always obey the Lord’s commands and decrees that I am giving you today for your own good.
- The tongue can bring death or life;
those who love to talk will reap the consequences. - What joy for the nation whose God is the Lord,
whose people he has chosen as his inheritance. - But if you look carefully into the perfect law that sets you free, and if you do what it says and don’t forget what you heard, then God will bless you for doing it.
- God blesses those who mourn,
for they will be comforted. - All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ.
- Honor your father and mother. Then you will live a long, full life in the land the Lord your God is giving you.
- Let your favor shine on your servant.
In your unfailing love, rescue me. - He grants a treasure of common sense to the honest.
He is a shield to those who walk with integrity. - And so blessing and cursing come pouring out of the same mouth. Surely, my brothers and sisters, this is not right!
- For you bless the godly, O Lord;
you surround them with your shield of love. - My child, listen to me and do as I say,
and you will have a long, good life. - We have happy memories of the godly,
but the name of a wicked person rots away. - “Listen to me and make up your minds to honor my name,” says the Lord of Heaven’s Armies, “or I will bring a terrible curse against you. I will curse even the blessings you receive. Indeed, I have already cursed them, because you have not taken my warning to heart.”
- Then Jesus led them to Bethany, and lifting his hands to heaven, he blessed them. While he was blessing them, he left them and was taken up to heaven.
- If you follow my decrees and are careful to obey my commands, I will send you the seasonal rains. The land will then yield its crops, and the trees of the field will produce their fruit.
- Please, Lord, please save us.
Please, Lord, please give us success.
Bless the one who comes in the name of the Lord.
We bless you from the house of the Lord. - Oh, what joy for those
whose disobedience is forgiven,
whose sin is put out of sight! - What are mere mortals that you should think about them,
human beings that you should care for them? - I will cause your descendants to become as numerous as the stars of the sky, and I will give them all these lands. And through your descendants all the nations of the earth will be blessed. I will do this because Abraham listened to me and obeyed all my requirements, commands, decrees, and instructions.
- What blessings await you when people hate you and exclude you and mock you and curse you as evil because you follow the Son of Man.
- But consider the joy of those corrected by God!
Do not despise the discipline of the Almighty when you sin. - When Job prayed for his friends, the Lord restored his fortunes. In fact, the Lord gave him twice as much as before!
- And because the midwives feared God, he gave them families of their own.
- “Yes,” Jesus replied, “and I assure you that everyone who has given up house or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or property, for my sake and for the Good News, will receive now in return a hundred times as many houses, brothers, sisters, mothers, children, and property—along with persecution. And in the world to come that person will have eternal life.”
