| The Lord isn’t really being slow about his promise, as some people think. No, he is being patient for your sake. | So you, too, must keep watch! For you don’t know what day your Lord is coming. | Therefore, stay awake, for you do not know on what day your Lord is coming. |

For as the lightning flashes in the east and shines to the west, so it will be when the Son of Man comes. | So, if they say to you, ‘Look, he is in the wilderness,’ do not go out. If they say, ‘Look, he is in the inner rooms,’ do not believe it. For as the lightning comes from the east and shines as far as the west, so will be the coming of the Son of Man. |
| And the Good News about the Kingdom will be preached throughout the whole world, so that all nations will hear it; and then the end will come. | And this gospel of the kingdom will be proclaimed throughout the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come. |
