You call me ‘Teacher’ and ‘Lord,’ and rightly so, for that is what I am. | You call Me ‘Teacher’ and ‘Lord’; and you are correct, for so I am. |
Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another’s feet. | So if I, the Lord and the Teacher, washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet. |

Very truly I tell you, no servant is greater than his master, nor is a messenger greater than the one who sent him. | Truly, truly I say to you, a slave is not greater than his master, nor is one who is sent greater than the one who sent him. |
Very truly I tell you, whoever accepts anyone I send accepts me; and whoever accepts me accepts the one who sent me. | Truly, truly I say to you, the one who receives anyone I send, receives Me; and the one who receives Me receives Him who sent Me. |
A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. | I am giving you a new commandment, that you love one another; just as I have loved you, that you also love one another. |
By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another. | By this all people will know that you are My disciples: if you have love for one another. |
