Proverbs 13 - WEB & NRSV

He who guards his mouth guards his soul. One who opens wide his lips comes to ruin.Those who guard their mouths preserve their lives; those who open wide their lips come to ruin.
The ransom of a man’s life is his riches, but the poor hear no threats.Wealth is a ransom for a person's life, but the poor get no threats.
Pride only breeds quarrels, but wisdom is with people who take advice.By insolence the heedless make strife, but wisdom is with those who take advice.
Wealth gained dishonestly dwindles away, but he who gathers by hand makes it grow.Wealth hastily gotten will dwindle, but those who gather little by little will increase it.
Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but when longing is fulfilled, it is a tree of life.Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but a desire fulfilled is a tree of life.
One who walks with wise men grows wise, but a companion of fools suffers harm.Whoever walks with the wise becomes wise, but the companion of fools suffers harm.
