| Do not think that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I have not come to bring peace but a sword. | Don’t think that I came to send peace on the earth. I didn’t come to send peace, but a sword. |
| I rejoice in the Lord with all my heart; my soul exults in my God. For he has clothed me in garments of salvation and wrapped me in a robe of saving justice, like a bridegroom adorned with a garland or a bride bedecked with her jewels. | I will greatly rejoice in Yahweh! | Can someone hide in a secret place so that I cannot see him? Do I not fill heaven and earth? | “Can anyone hide himself in secret places so that I can’t see him?” says Yahweh. “Don’t I fill heaven and earth?” says Yahweh. |
| But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid, for I bring you good news of great joy for all the people.” | The angel said to them, “Don’t be afraid, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy which will be to all the people.” |
| Why are you so disheartened, O my soul? Why do you sigh within me? Place your hope in God; for I will once again praise him, my Savior and my God. | Why are you in despair, my soul? Why are you disturbed within me? Hope in God! For I shall still praise him, the saving help of my countenance, and my God. |
