A good man produces good from the store of goodness in his heart, whereas an evil man produces evil from the store of evil within him. For the mouth speaks from the abundance of the heart.The good person out of the good treasure of the heart produces good, and the evil person out of evil treasure produces evil; for it is out of the abundance of the heart that the mouth speaks.

Rather, present yourselves to God as having been raised from death to life and the parts of your body to God as instruments for righteousness.No longer present your members to sin as instruments of wickedness, but present yourselves to God as those who have been brought from death to life, and present your members to God as instruments of righteousness.
Yet even so, because of your great compassion, you did not completely destroy them, nor did you forsake them, for you are a gracious and merciful God.Nevertheless, in your great mercies you did not make an end of them or forsake them, for you are a gracious and merciful God.
Anyone who leads an honorable life walks in safety, but whoever pursues wicked ways will be found out.Whoever walks in integrity walks securely, but whoever follows perverse ways will be found out.

The Lord is good, an unfailing refuge in a time of distress. He takes care of those who place their trust in him.The Lord is good, a stronghold in a day of trouble; he protects those who take refuge in him.
An honorable name is more to be desired than great riches, and high esteem is preferable to silver and gold.A good name is to be chosen rather than great riches, and favor is better than silver or gold.
And walk in love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a sacrificial offering whose fragrance is pleasing to God.And live in love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us, a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.
A truthful witness does not lie, but a false witness lies incessantly.A faithful witness does not lie, but a false witness breathes out lies.

Persevere in prayer, with alert minds and thankful hearts.Devote yourselves to prayer, keeping alert in it with thanksgiving.
Examine me, O God, and know my heart; test me and understand my thoughts. See if I follow an evil way, and guide me on the way to eternity.Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my thoughts. See if there is any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.
He gives a home to those who are forsaken and leads out prisoners amid chants of exultation, while rebels are forced to live in an arid land.God gives the desolate a home to live in; he leads out the prisoners to prosperity, but the rebellious live in a parched land.

This water prefigured Baptism, which now saves you. It does so not by the washing away of dirt from the body but by the pledge of a good conscience given to God through the resurrection of Jesus Christ.And baptism, which this prefigured, now saves you—not as a removal of dirt from the body, but as an appeal to God for a good conscience, through the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
