- Therefore you also must be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an unexpected hour.
- When your eyes light upon it, it is gone;
for suddenly it takes wings to itself,
flying like an eagle toward heaven. - Fools show their anger at once,
but the prudent ignore an insult. - Though an army encamp against me,
my heart shall not fear;
though war rise up against me,
yet I will be confident. - Let no one despise your youth, but set the believers an example in speech and conduct, in love, in faith, in purity.
- When one will not listen to the law,
even one's prayers are an abomination. - But let justice roll down like waters,
and righteousness like an ever-flowing stream. - For to this you have been called, because Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example, so that you should follow in his steps.
- Take care, brothers and sisters, that none of you may have an evil, unbelieving heart that turns away from the living God.
- Athletes exercise self-control in all things; they do it to receive a perishable wreath, but we an imperishable one.
- Lying lips are an abomination to the Lord,
but those who act faithfully are his delight. - And whoever does not provide for relatives, and especially for family members, has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.
- Because sentence against an evil deed is not executed speedily, the human heart is fully set to do evil.
- I will praise you with an upright heart,
when I learn your righteous ordinances. - For this slight momentary affliction is preparing us for an eternal weight of glory beyond all measure.
- To make an apt answer is a joy to anyone,
and a word in season, how good it is! - Adulterers! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Therefore whoever wishes to be a friend of the world becomes an enemy of God.
- One who forgives an affront fosters friendship,
but one who dwells on disputes will alienate a friend. - For you were called to freedom, brothers and sisters; only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for self-indulgence, but through love become slaves to one another.
- I tell you, on the day of judgment you will have to give an account for every careless word you utter.
- Teach me your way, O Lord,
that I may walk in your truth;
give me an undivided heart to revere your name. - Do not envy the violent
and do not choose any of their ways;
for the perverse are an abomination to the Lord,
but the upright are in his confidence. - But in your hearts sanctify Christ as Lord. Always be ready to make your defense to anyone who demands from you an accounting for the hope that is in you.
- But just when he had resolved to do this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, “Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary as your wife, for the child conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit.”
- Nevertheless, in your great mercies you did not make an end of them or forsake them, for you are a gracious and merciful God.
Remember that you were a slave in the land of Egypt, and the Lord your God brought you out from there with a mighty hand and an outstretched arm; therefore the Lord your God commanded you to keep the sabbath day.But he was wounded for our transgressions,
crushed for our iniquities;
upon him was the punishment that made us whole,
and by his bruises we are healed. Keep your lives free from the love of money, and be content with what you have; for he has said, “I will never leave you or forsake you.”Next verse!With image
