We are witnesses of these things and so is the Holy Spirit, who is given by God to those who obey him. | And we are witnesses to these things, and so is the Holy Spirit, whom God has given to those who obey him. |
You are my rock and my fortress. For the honor of your name, lead me out of this danger. | For you are my rock and my fortress; and for your name's sake you lead me and guide me. |
The sinful nature wants to do evil, which is just the opposite of what the Spirit wants. And the Spirit gives us desires that are the opposite of what the sinful nature desires. These two forces are constantly fighting each other, so you are not free to carry out your good intentions. | For the desires of the flesh are against the Spirit, and the desires of the Spirit are against the flesh, for these are opposed to each other, to keep you from doing the things you want to do. |

Wise words bring approval, but fools are destroyed by their own words. | The words of a wise man's mouth win him favor, but the lips of a fool consume him. |

O Lord, you are so good, so ready to forgive, so full of unfailing love for all who ask for your help. | For you, O Lord, are good and forgiving, abounding in steadfast love to all who call upon you. |
