Whatever your task, put yourselves into it, as done for the Lord and not for your masters, since you know that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward; you serve the Lord Christ. | And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men; Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ. |
As a father has compassion for his children, so the Lord has compassion for those who fear him. | Like as a father pitieth his children, so the Lord pitieth them that fear him. |

Because your steadfast love is better than life, my lips will praise you. So I will bless you as long as I live; I will lift up my hands and call on your name. | Because thy lovingkindness is better than life, my lips shall praise thee. Thus will I bless thee while I live: I will lift up my hands in thy name. |
In the same way, husbands should love their wives as they do their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. | So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself. |
Know then in your heart that as a parent disciplines a child so the Lord your God disciplines you. | Thou shalt also consider in thine heart, that, as a man chasteneth his son, so the Lord thy God chasteneth thee. |
And let us consider how to provoke one another to love and good deeds, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day approaching. | And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works: Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching. |
Then the Lord commanded us to observe all these statutes, to fear the Lord our God, for our lasting good, so as to keep us alive, as is now the case. | And the Lord commanded us to do all these statutes, to fear the Lord our God, for our good always, that he might preserve us alive, as it is at this day. |
And let the one who believes in me drink. As the scripture has said, ‘Out of the believer's heart shall flow rivers of living water.’ | He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water. |
So then let us not fall asleep as others do, but let us keep awake and be sober. | Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober. |
But as for me, I will look to the Lord, I will wait for the God of my salvation; my God will hear me. | Therefore I will look unto the Lord; I will wait for the God of my salvation: my God will hear me. |
Beloved, we are God's children now; what we will be has not yet been revealed. What we do know is this: when he is revealed, we will be like him, for we will see him as he is. And all who have this hope in him purify themselves, just as he is pure. | Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is. And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure. |
For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts. | For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts. |
The shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all they had heard and seen, as it had been told them. | And the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things that they had heard and seen, as it was told unto them. |
Divided tongues, as of fire, appeared among them, and a tongue rested on each of them. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other languages, as the Spirit gave them ability. | And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. |
If you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love, just as I have kept my Father's commandments and abide in his love. | If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love. |
For just as the sufferings of Christ are abundant for us, so also our consolation is abundant through Christ. | For as the sufferings of Christ abound in us, so our consolation also aboundeth by Christ. |
For your steadfast love is as high as the heavens; your faithfulness extends to the clouds. | For thy mercy is great unto the heavens, and thy truth unto the clouds. |
Just as the living Father sent me, and I live because of the Father, so whoever eats me will live because of me. | As the living Father hath sent me, and I live by the Father: so he that eateth me, even he shall live by me. |
And may the Lord make you increase and abound in love for one another and for all, just as we abound in love for you. | And the Lord make you to increase and abound in love one toward another, and toward all men, even as we do toward you. |
Wives, be subject to your husbands, as is fitting in the Lord. Husbands, love your wives and never treat them harshly. | Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as it is fit in the Lord. Husbands, love your wives, and be not bitter against them. |
If we diligently observe this entire commandment before the Lord our God, as he has commanded us, we will be in the right. | And it shall be our righteousness, if we observe to do all these commandments before the Lord our God, as he hath commanded us. |
All who have sinned apart from the law will also perish apart from the law, and all who have sinned under the law will be judged by the law. | For as many as have sinned without law shall also perish without law: and as many as have sinned in the law shall be judged by the law. |
Husbands, in the same way, show consideration for your wives in your life together, paying honor to the woman as the weaker sex, since they too are also heirs of the gracious gift of life—so that nothing may hinder your prayers. | Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge, giving honour unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life; that your prayers be not hindered. |
Even though you intended to do harm to me, God intended it for good, in order to preserve a numerous people, as he is doing today. | But as for you, ye thought evil against me; but God meant it unto good, to bring to pass, as it is this day, to save much people alive. |
As God's chosen ones, holy and beloved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience. | Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering. |
