Be of the same mind one toward another. Mind not high things, but condescend to men of low estate. Be not wise in your own conceits. | Live in harmony with one another. Do not consider yourself to be better than others, but associate with the lowly, and never be conceited. |
And he sat down, and called the twelve, and saith unto them, If any man desire to be first, the same shall be last of all, and servant of all. | Then he sat down, summoned the Twelve, and said to them, “If anyone wishes to be first, he must become the last of all and the servant of all.” |
And an highway shall be there, and a way, and it shall be called The way of holiness; the unclean shall not pass over it; but it shall be for those: the wayfaring men, though fools, shall not err therein. | A highway will be there that will be called the Way of Holiness. No one who is unclean may pass over it; it will serve as a path for pilgrims and no fool will be able to use it. |
For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. | Indeed, “everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” |
These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full. | I have told you these things so that my joy may be in you and your joy may be complete. |
Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord. | Repent, therefore, and be converted so that your sins may be wiped away. |
For with God nothing shall be impossible. | For nothing will be impossible for God. |
After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us? | What then can we say in response to all this? If God is for us, who can be against us? |
And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved. | Then it will come to pass that everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved. |
Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. | Do not let your hearts be troubled. You place your trust in God. Trust also in me. |
Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. | Do not be deceived; God cannot be mocked. A person will reap only what he sows. |
Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober. | So we must not fall asleep as the others do, but we must stay alert and sober. |
Let all your things be done with charity. | Everything that you do should be done in love. |
Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect. | Therefore, strive to be perfect, just as your heavenly Father is perfect. |
