Book of titus (3/4)

  • Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.
  • What is mankind that you are mindful of them,
    human beings that you care for them?
  • May these words of my mouth and this meditation of my heart
    be pleasing in your sight,
    Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer.
  • Our help is in the name of the Lord,
    the Maker of heaven and earth.
  • Blessed is the one
    who does not walk in step with the wicked
    or stand in the way that sinners take
    or sit in the company of mockers.
  • Jesus answered, “Very truly I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of water and the Spirit.”
  • Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.
  • As you do not know the path of the wind,
    or how the body is formed in a mother’s womb,
    so you cannot understand the work of God,
    the Maker of all things.
  • The way of the Lord is a refuge for the blameless,
    but it is the ruin of those who do evil.
  • In the same way, I tell you, there is rejoicing in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents.
  • And this water symbolizes baptism that now saves you also—not the removal of dirt from the body but the pledge of a clear conscience toward God. It saves you by the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
  • The Lord loves righteousness and justice;
    the earth is full of his unfailing love.
  • Then he took a cup, and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them, saying, “Drink from it, all of you. This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.”
  • To them God has chosen to make known among the Gentiles the glorious riches of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.
  • The law of the Lord is perfect,
    refreshing the soul.
    The statutes of the Lord are trustworthy,
    making wise the simple.
  • I have not departed from the commands of his lips;
    I have treasured the words of his mouth more than my daily bread.
  • Wives, submit yourselves to your own husbands as you do to the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior.
  • Fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
  • In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace.
  • Humility is the fear of the Lord;
    its wages are riches and honor and life.
  • Therefore anyone who sets aside one of the least of these commands and teaches others accordingly will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever practices and teaches these commands will be called great in the kingdom of heaven.
  • The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.
  • Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called when you made your good confession in the presence of many witnesses.
  • Just as the living Father sent me and I live because of the Father, so the one who feeds on me will live because of me.
  • Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High
    will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.
    I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress,
    my God, in whom I trust.”

The grace of the Lord Jesus be with God’s people. Amen.

Bible verse of the day

As for God, his way is perfect:
The Lord’s word is flawless;
he shields all who take refuge in him.
