Renew a right spirit within me. - According to the law, nearly everything is cleansed with blood, and apart from shedding of blood there is no remission.

Cleanse me from my sin. - For the invisible things of him since the creation of the world are clearly seen, being perceived through the things that are made, even his everlasting power and divinity, that they may be without excuse.
- He said to them, “Are you also without understanding? Don’t you perceive that whatever goes into the man from outside can’t defile him, because it doesn’t go into his heart, but into his stomach, then into the latrine, making all foods clean?”
