So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate.”

cease to do evil. - Since we have these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from every defilement of body and of spirit, making holiness perfect in the fear of God.

enlightening the eyes. - Have mercy on me, O God,
according to your steadfast love;
according to your abundant mercy
blot out my transgressions.
Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity,
and cleanse me from my sin. - He said to them, “Then do you also fail to understand? Do you not see that whatever goes into a person from outside cannot defile,
since it enters, not the heart but the stomach, and goes out into the sewer?” (Thus he declared all foods clean.)
