about whose coming you have been told,
and that it is already in the world. - I will not leave you orphans;
I will come to you. - The end of all things is near. Therefore, lead disciplined lives and be watchful in prayer.

- And when he comes,
he will prove the world wrong
about sin and righteousness and judgment. - There is nothing hidden that will not be disclosed, and nothing secret that will not become known.

- Therefore, prepare your minds for action. Be calm and fix your hopes completely on the grace that you will be granted at the revelation of Jesus Christ.

and you will refute every accusation
that is raised in court against you.
This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord,
their vindication from me, says the Lord. - Though he was in the form of God,
he did not regard equality with God
as something to be grasped.
Rather, he emptied himself,
taking the form of a slave,
being born in human likeness.
Being found in appearance as a man,
he humbled himself,
and became obedient to death,
even death on a cross.
