| God has overlooked the times of human ignorance, but now he commands people everywhere to repent. | And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent. |

| Seek the Lord, all you humble of the land who obey his commands. | The precepts of the Lord are right, causing the heart to rejoice. The commands of the Lord are clear, giving light to the eyes. | The statutes of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes. |
| A wise man will heed commandments, but a babbling fool will come to grief. | The wise in heart will receive commandments: but a prating fool shall fall. |
