And God saw their works, that they turned from their evil way; and God repented of the evil, that he had said that he would do unto them; and he did it not. | When God saw what they did and how they turned from their evil ways, he relented and did not bring on them the destruction he had threatened. |
There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God. Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen. Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not. | See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him. |
Then went in also that other disciple, which came first to the sepulchre, and he saw, and believed. For even the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many. | For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many. |
