O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is. | God, You are my God; I shall be watching for You; My soul thirsts for You, my flesh yearns for You, In a dry and exhausted land where there is no water. |
Peter therefore was kept in prison: but prayer was made without ceasing of the church unto God for him. | So Peter was kept in the prison, but prayer for him was being made to God intensely by the church. |

With my soul have I desired thee in the night; yea, with my spirit within me will I seek thee early: for when thy judgments are in the earth, the inhabitants of the world will learn righteousness. | At night my soul longs for You, Indeed, my spirit within me seeks You diligently; For when the earth experiences Your judgments, The inhabitants of the world learn righteousness. |
Continue in prayer, and watch in the same with thanksgiving. | Devote yourselves to prayer, keeping alert in it with an attitude of thanksgiving. |
And above all things have fervent charity among yourselves: for charity shall cover the multitude of sins. | Above all, keep fervent in your love for one another, because love covers a multitude of sins. |
So we fasted and besought our God for this: and he was intreated of us. | So we fasted and sought our God concerning this matter, and He listened to our pleading. |
But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. | And without faith it is impossible to please Him, for the one who comes to God must believe that He exists, and that He proves to be One who rewards those who seek Him. |
For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God. | For the eagerly awaiting creation waits for the revealing of the sons and daughters of God. |
