- “Peace be with you,” Jesus said to them again.
“As the Father has sent me,
so I send you.” - Whatever you ask in my name I will do,
so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. - And I will ask the Father,
and he will give you another Advocate
to be with you forever. - The father of a good man will rejoice;
he who begets a wise son will delight in him. - But if you do not forgive others, then your Father will not forgive your transgressions.
- And every tongue should proclaim
to the glory of God the Father:
Jesus Christ is Lord. - If you know me,
then you will know my Father also.
From now on you do know him.
You have seen him. - As a father has compassion for his children,
so the Lord has compassion for those who fear him. - If you forgive others for the wrongs they have done, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.
- Jesus replied,
“I am the way, and the truth, and the life.
No one comes to the Father
except through me.” - He cried out, “Father, into your hands I commend my spirit.” And with these words he breathed his last.
- Abba, Father, for you all things are possible. Take this cup from me. Yet not my will but yours be done.
- Do not love the world
or what is in the world.
If anyone does love the world,
the love of the Father is not in him. - Thus you could understand that the Lord, your God, was disciplining you, just like a father disciplines his son.
- But when you fast, put oil on your head and wash your face, so that the fact that you are fasting will not be obvious to others but only to your Father who is hidden. And your Father who sees everything that is done in secret will reward you.
- To you, O God of my fathers,
I offer thanks and praise
because you have given me wisdom and power.
Now you have made known to me
what we asked of you;
you have revealed to us the king’s dream. - Then Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.” And they cast lots to divide his garments.
- For this reason
a man shall leave his father and mother
and be joined to his wife,
and the two shall become one flesh. - Honor your father and your mother so that your days may be lengthened in the land that the Lord your God, will give you.
- I pray that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give you a spirit of wisdom and revelation to know him.
- And whatever you do in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.
- Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my heavenly Father.
- Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them can fall to the ground without your Father’s knowledge. Even the hairs on your head have all been counted. So do not be afraid; you are worth far more than any number of sparrows.
- Exalted at God’s right hand, he received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit and has poured out what you now see and hear.
- Do you suppose that I cannot appeal to my Father for help and he will not immediately send me more than twelve legions of angels?
