| For if ye throughly amend your ways and your doings; if ye throughly execute judgment between a man and his neighbour; If ye oppress not the stranger, the fatherless, and the widow, and shed not innocent blood in this place, neither walk after other gods to your hurt: Then will I cause you to dwell in this place, in the land that I gave to your fathers, for ever and ever. | However, if you truly amend your ways and your deeds, if you are upright in your dealings with your neighbor; if you do not oppress the alien, the orphan, and the widow; if you do not shed innocent blood in this place; and if you do not follow other gods and thereby cause your own destruction, then I will allow you to live in this place, in the land that I gave as a permanent gift to your fathers long ago. |

| I came forth from the Father, and am come into the world: again, I leave the world, and go to the Father. | I came from the Father and have come into the world. Now I am leaving the world and returning to the Father. |
| As the living Father hath sent me, and I live by the Father: so he that eateth me, even he shall live by me. | Just as the living Father sent me and I have life because of the Father, so whoever feeds upon me will live because of me. |
| Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father: he that acknowledgeth the Son hath the Father also. | Whoever denies the Son does not have the Father, but whoever acknowledges the Son has the Father also. |
| Thus speaketh the Lord of hosts, saying, Execute true judgment, and shew mercy and compassions every man to his brother: And oppress not the widow, nor the fatherless, the stranger, nor the poor; and let none of you imagine evil against his brother in your heart. | Thus says the Lord of hosts: Render fair judgments, and show kindness and compassion to one another. | Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect. | Therefore, strive to be perfect, just as your heavenly Father is perfect. |
| Like as a father pitieth his children, so the Lord pitieth them that fear him. | As a father has compassion for his children, so the Lord has compassion for those who fear him. |
| And he humbled thee, and suffered thee to hunger, and fed thee with manna, which thou knewest not, neither did thy fathers know; that he might make thee know that man doth not live by bread only, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of the Lord doth man live. | He brought you low, allowing you to suffer from hunger. He then fed you with manna, something with which your fathers were not familiar, so that you might come to know that man does not live by bread alone, but man lives by every word that comes forth from the mouth of the Lord. |
| And if it seem evil unto you to serve the Lord, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord. | If it seems wrong to you to serve the Lord, then today you must choose whom you will serve, whether it be the gods that your fathers served on the other side of the river, or the gods of the Amorites who dwell in the land. As for me and my household, we will serve the Lord. |
| For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. | If you forgive others for the wrongs they have done, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. |
| A wise son maketh a glad father: but a foolish son is the heaviness of his mother. | A wise son brings joy to his father, but a foolish son gives grief to his mother. |
| But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly. | But when you pray, go into your room, close the door, and pray to your Father in secret. And your Father who sees everything that is done in secret will reward you. |
| Then said Jesus to them again, Peace be unto you: as my Father hath sent me, even so send I you. | “Peace be with you,” Jesus said to them again. “As the Father has sent me, so I send you.” |
| But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses. | But if you do not forgive others, then your Father will not forgive your transgressions. |
| Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. | Jesus replied, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” |
